Impact of Scripture on Our Lives PDF Print E-mail
For several years the Center for Bible Engagement (CBE) at Back to the Bible has researched why people own but never read their own Bibles and what impact Bible reading has on the quality of life. For example, they found that those who listen to or read Scripture four or more days a week are 68% less likely to engage in extramarital sex, 61% less likely to view pornography, and 74% less likely to engage in gambling.

The CBE also found when individuals read or listen to Scripture it results in individuals who are more active in their community. For instance, the CBE found that those who are in God’s Word four or more days a week are 228% more likely to share their faith and 231% more likely to disciple others.

These findings emphasize what we already know. Getting into God’s Word and letting it get into us is essential. Unfortunately the fast-pace lifestyle so many lead makes it a challenge for many to create this positive rhythm of life. However, technology has created great opportunities to overcome the obstacles so many face.

Continuing Lay Training (CLT) now has a streaming player on the home page (www.DiscipleshipPlace.org) which allows individuals to listen to the New Testament in dozens of scripture translations and languages. Our prayer is that people all around the globe will make it part of their daily routine to visit our web site for 5-10 minutes to listen to Scripture. When this happens we are confident the outcomes will be positive.
